It’s also a proven motivational aid for young people who have grown up watching animated films and TV programmes,
and look upon animation as a medium that represents fun and entertainment
Digital Film Making
Pupils script, shoot, edit and produce their own digital movie using state of the art equipment and software.
A Becta pilot found that digital video can increase pupil engagement as well as promoting and developing a wide range of learning styles.
They found it can motivate and engage a wider range of pupils than traditional teaching methods and can stimulate and support the development
of other skills such as problem solving, negotiation, thinking and risk taking.
Digital Image Manipulation
Pupils are introduced to digital image manipulation using computers, digital cameras, scanners and Photoshop Elements 2.
Images produced can be displayed on the internet or printed out in A4 to A0 (poster size) format.
This workshop is great practice for pupils, teachers or learning mentors with an interest in editing and displaying their work in a digital or printed format.
Buzan Approach to Mindmapping
Pupils are introduced to how the brain works, why mindmaps are appropriate to the learning situation, how to read mindmaps and finally how to draw mindmaps manually and with Buzan approved software. This workshop is great practice for pupils, teachers or learning mentors with an interest in understanding how we learn or how to revise for an examination.

Making The News
The technology adopted on the “making the news” (MTN) site allows pupils to practice their skills as a radio,
TV or newspaper reporter. By the end of the day your news team will have produced “news items” in a variety of formats e.g.
sound, text, images, flash blog and movie files which may all be published on your school area of the MTN website see: (http://mtn.e2bn.net).
Missionmaker
We are one of just a few institutions in the UK who are test driving MissionMaker game-creation software.
MissionMaker puts the creation of 3D computer games within reach of educators and students.
Sophisticated puzzles and challenges can be devised and linked together within fantastic interactive environments.
Games can feature characters who deliver information to the player via text-to-speech technology or speech recorded by the game creator himself.
Video and imagery can be integrated into games. The only real limit is the imagination of the game creator himself!!
Creating Mediascapes
Mediascapes are a new medium. We use the term mediascape to describe the user experience of walking through the physical
world and triggering digital media which has been situated in that place for a particular reason by the mediascape designer.
Forms of mediascape include tours, situated plays, games, augmented attractions and wearable applications.
What the different forms of mediascape hold in common is that the user is always mobile, rather than at a desk and the interaction
mechanisms are often through movement or gesture rather than using a mouse or keyboard.
Design for this new medium is still at a formative stage.
At TCLC we use HP Ipaq PDA’s and Syson Bluetooth GPS to create mediascapes either on site or at a location of your choice.
Making Music
GarageBand is a software application that allows users to create a piece of music.
The application is not aimed at professional musicians, but it is intended to help amateurs produce music easily.
The application comes with 1,000 pre-recorded sampled loops, and 50 sampled or synthesized instruments which can be played
using a MIDI keyboard connected to the computer, or using an on-screen keyboard.
You can create your own ringtone for your phone or create your own mp3 music to be published on the web.
Badge Making
Use software to design and make your very own badge.
Can be made for any purpose: school, parties, competitions etc.
